first came across Misato’s work when she was featured during Melbourne Fashion Week’s “The Future” runway show for emerging artists, and there is a reason she has been identified as one of the Australia’s most talented new designers. Her work is exciting, individual and very eye-catching. But more than that, the passion and care she shows while working with you to create a piece tailored exactly for you makes her pieces feel truly personal and even more special.

I was drawn to her pleated short-sleeve shirt for its unique details and beautiful silhouette. I didn’t fully appreciate the effort Misato would put in to make my shirt exactly for me, or the level of professionalism and service she provides. When I was first invited to her studio, she took the time to take my measurements, adjust her design to suit my frame, and then to teach me about the wonderful ethically and sustainably produced Japanese cotton fabric, dyed with reused coffee grounds, which she had sourced for her pieces. It’s very clear that Misato is fully committed not just on making her clients feel important and cared for, but to ensuring that her products are of the best quality and also environmentally sustainable as well. That kind of dedication can’t be valued highly enough.

Over two sessions Misato produced a sample, adjusted the design to my preferences and, finally, created an absolutely stunning piece for me that fits me perfectly, feels incredible and looks gorgeous. I get compliments on it every time I wear it – which is not something I usually have to worry about – and more importantly it feels unique and truly special. The kind of service Misato offers is rare and so special. I’m excited to work with her again!.
